One of the most amazing parts of riding with the Key to Keys 2014 team was knowing that each person had a different experience every day as we rode with different people, with different stories, different miles, and different roads.  This to me mirrors the cancer experience as no two journeys are the same.  When it came to deciding if I would apply to ride again this year, I went back and forth many times.  While this was an amazing experience, the hours put in to the training, reaching out to friends and family for their generosity and support, and the effort in riding for 8 days pushing yourself past points you never thought you would go had me questioning whether this was something I could do again this year.  The day I received the application, I found out that my good friend who I rode for last year was re-diagnosed and is having to go through her battle once more.  Knowing that she is now going through this, yet again, has made me decide that this year I ride for those who have to hear those words “You Have Cancer” more than once.  This ride is about more than the experience, but putting in the time, effort, and dedication to push through a second time.

UCF Experiences Key to Keys is a journey that brings together a diverse group of individuals to build a community of support for those affected by cancer. Using cycling as a platform, Key to Keys participants come together throughout the journey to share their individual cancer connections and give out as much support to others as they are receiving.
