We have all been affected by cancer in one way or another - whether dealing with your own fight or going thru the fight with loved ones - Cancer does not discriminates against any race, sex or age. As a young child I watched my Grandfather slowly die of cancer but was too young to understand. As a teenager, I lost both my Aunt and my Uncle in the same year to Cancer. My father had to deal with skin cancer as well as my Uncle who continues to fight with it today. I started to become numb and detached from all of tragedy that Cancer had brought into my life – I saw no hope for this disease.

A few years ago I was introduced to The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults...through this organization I met a lot of really inspiring people who dedicate their time to the fight against Cancer. Some of these people are fighting their own fight – and have very inspirational stories. Others have witnessed the same tragedies as myself and fight for their loved ones. The passion these people have in their fight against Cancer is overwhelming. They are a true inspiration and have made me look at the positive aspects instead of dwelling on the negatives - my Mother was successfully treated for breast cancer and my girlfriend's Mother is a 3 time survivor. In the last several years I have witnessed many other positive stories from survivors – and all of this provides hope and inspiration that someday we will no longer have to deal with this disease.

For those of you who do not know – The Ulman Cancer Fund is an advocate for young adults with cancer...their mission: To change lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship. I have seen the positive impact they have on young cancer survivors and I am happy to support their fight by raising awareness and money for their cause by racing for Team Fight.  I hope will join me in my fight by donating to their cause.

Thank You!

ABOUT TCS NYC Marathon - TEAM FIGHT 2014

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship.

With your support, The Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community, including:

  • Cancer to 5K - A free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.

  • Helping Others Fight - A volunteer program that provides basic services – such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs, delivery of chemo care bags – to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.

  • Patient Navigation - A free program - onsite at cancer centers and remote - that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone.  We provide one-on-one personal support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.

  • Scholarships - A financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for making these programs and our mission possible.
