Dear Friends and Family,
In 2009, I decided to take my love for running to the competitive world. I have competed in many 10K, 10 mile, and half marathon races, but until now I never thought about the possibility of competing in a marathon, let alone, the 2014 New York City Marathon.
In August 2013, an amazing person stepped into my life named Jason. Shortly thereafter, I discovered his dad’s life had been cut short prematurely as a result of cancer. Amongst many beautiful memories shared, one that holds a special meaning was how his dad had a passion for running, and loved participating in the NYC Marathon. Jason and I hope to keep his dad’s legacy alive by participating in this year’s NYC Marathon.
In my youth, I witnessed my grandmother, a two-time Cancer survivor, battle against Lymphoma for three years, only to be diagnosed with Breast cancer 4 years later. My grandmother, fought through the illness, and is lucky to be Cancer-free for 7 years. She continues to live a very active life at the young age of 80.
I can think of no better way to show my love and support for Jason, his dad, my grandmother, and those of all ages who are inflicted with this deadly illness.
I chose to run on a charity team, The Ulman Cancer Fund's Team FIGHT, founded in Baltimore, MD. This charity creates support for young adults facing cancer, as well as providing aide to the family members of those affected. Cancer has an impact on all of us at some point, and by running the NYC Marathon with Team FIGHT I hope to raise awareness and funds in order to support the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
My goal is to raise $3000 by race day, November 2, 2014. I am reaching out to you to be part of this experience and ask for your support. I appreciate any donation as every little bit helps! ($10, $25, $50, $100), etc.).
Just click DONATE! Thank you so much for your generosity, support, and for joining me in this incredibly amazing and rewarding experience.

Thank you for your support!
-Michelle
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship.
With your support, The Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community, including:
Cancer to 5K - A free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Helping Others Fight - A volunteer program that provides basic services – such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs, delivery of chemo care bags – to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.
Patient Navigation - A free program - onsite at cancer centers and remote - that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one personal support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - A financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for making these programs and our mission possible.
