The mission remains the same - helping young adults navigate the multitude of obstacles that come with a diagnosis of cancer, and enable them to live full, and fulfilling lives.  The organization - dedicated and trustworthy.  My role - through training for and participating in this year's Army Ten-Miler in Washington, DC, raise awareness and donations for the Ulman Cancer Fund.

We've all made charitable contributions, and sometimes even feel that "enough is enough."  "Didn't Scott do this last year, and maybe even the year before?"  In fact I have.  The reality is that cancer has not yet relented, and the need to support patients through the processes associated with a diagnosis of cancer remains.  The Ulman Cancer Fund continues to provide support in our communities, but only through volunteerism and our contributions.

As with many people, my family has unfortunately been touched by cancer.  At the time that my sister, grandfather, mother-in-law, and father-in-law lived with their cancers, there were few, if any organizations existing to provide them the type of support available now through the likes of the Ulman Cancer Fund.  I'm fortunate to be healthy, and able to raise awareness for this Fight through endurance activities like the one I'm currently training for.  I'm hoping that your learning about this organization, and the hours of training involved may motivate you to make a donation on my behalf.

No amount is too small - the $5 donations add up like any other to help me reach my goal.

Will you help me Fight again this year?

Sincerely,

Scott

ABOUT Army 10 Miler - TEAM FIGHT 2014

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship.

With your support, The Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide multiple support services and resources for the young adult cancer community, including:

  • Cancer to 5K - A free, progressive, 12-week run/walk program designed to reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.

  • Helping Others Fight - A volunteer program that provides basic services – such as transportation to and from treatment, yard work, home repairs, delivery of chemo care bags – to local cancer patients and their families so they can focus their energy on their battle with cancer and their well-being.

  • Patient Navigation - A free program - onsite at cancer centers and remote - that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone.  We provide one-on-one personal support and resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer experience and long-term cancer survival.

  • Scholarships - A financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.

Thank you for making these programs and our mission possible.
